Fred Langer
As both a practicing attorney and nurse, Fred Langer brings a unique combination of skills to Nelson Langer Engle. With his clinical and legal expertise, he has the ability to assess his clients’ long-term care needs and the legal skills to recover fair compensation. Fred’s practice emphasizes prosecuting wrongful denial of long-term disability insurance claims on both the ERISA and private context.
Fred is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and Oregon Bar Association, like the other attorneys at Nelson Langer Engle, is a Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ) Eagle and member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Fred served as board member of the Brain Injury Association of Washington. Mr. Langer is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Fred has published articles in Trial News, Journal of Society of Hematology and Oncology Nursing Forum. He has been an invited speaker at the WSAJ annual convention.
In November 1997, Fred was elected Commissioner of Public Hospital District #2 in Snohomish County, Washington. In his role as commissioner, he is responsible for the Patient Care Performance Improvement Program and the Corporate Ethical Compliance Board. He also advises and assists in policy development, funding and budgeting. From 2001 to 2007 he served as Presdent for the Board of Commissioner of Public Hospital District No. 2-Snohomish County, an elected position. Mr. Langer served on the Executive Committee of the South Snohomish County Commission for Health and he continues to work toward improving the health of his community.
A dean’s list student, Fred earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Planning and Administration from Pennsylvania State University in 1984. He continued his education at the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1988. Fred then went on to law school, where he graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 1995.
